This week I have was given a great website that lists the pros and cons of ebooks. It was given to me by a fellow classmate, Melody who also has a blog. I like how it lists the pros and cons.
Another comment was made about how ebooks can be useful to people with disabilities which I think is a great suggestion. Pleas check out the article and share your thoughts.

Although, the pros were longer than your cons unfortuantely, they have the same value. The negative benefits although small in numbers are very powerful. I am concerned when I start hearing that medical problems can occur due to a product.
Another negative benefit I read was any damage to the disk can cause problems.
Even though ebooks have a lot to offer book lovers, the company still have a lot to do to improve the system.

Like the previous person said, the disadvantages of ebooks weigh heavily against the advantages outlined in the article.

The fact that one always has to have a power source available is troublesome. The fact that the disks can be easily and irreparably damaged is also another thing to consider in an environment where we do not have access to enough funds as it is.

Also, one would hope that the software needed to read these texts is always compatible with the other software and programs on the computer systems in our libraries.

Maybe the compromise would be to have a limited collection of ebooks, say to address maybe specific groups of students. I do like the fact that the text can be easily magnified to make it easier for some students to read.
