Week 3 - The quest continues

So for week 3, I was able to find a positive article on ebooks. They are actually trying to make a comeback. The article I found compared ebooks to steroids because they are trying to make them bigger, better and faster. It has mentions four new companies that are getting into the business of ebooks: Knovel, ProQuest, ebrary, and Springer.
This week I will also be discussing game-based learning. Please share your thoughts.

Hi Janine,

I certainly believe that ebooks do have a place in certain situations. For those who are homebound or confined to a hospital because of physical impairments and/or illnes, ebooks can be a way of providing reading materials to these individuals. As for a school media specialist, recommending an ebook should be a last resort such as if a specific book is not available in the media center or at a local library. I did give the URL of an nonfiction ebook to a student when I performed online referencing for a previous class but this was to provide specific information that the student needed which this ebook provided. Perhaps ebooks are becoming more popular. However, I would not recommend them to students for general reading purposes.
